Description

Welcome to our Theatre Lab Production Camp, where students are invited to embark on an exciting journey into the world of theater! Join us as we bring the timeless tale of Peter Pan to life in our workshop production designed specifically for young actors. This camp will culminate in two performances of the play in our KMT blackbox theatre for friends and family!

Throughout the camp, students will have the opportunity to dive into the creative process, from memorizing lines to participating in a fun and low-pressure group audition. All students will have roles. Our KMT blackbox theatre, which is specially built for our students, will serve as the canvas for our imaginations, with minimal set pieces allowing our young actors to unleash their creativity.

In addition to honing their acting skills, students will have the chance to get hands-on with costume elements and hand props, crafting them alongside their peers. They'll also explore the fascinating world of light design and operation, learning how to enhance the story creation through stage lighting.

We believe in the power of collaboration and collective creativity, and no prior experience is needed to join us on this theatrical adventure. However, commitment is key, as students must be available for the entire camp duration and missing more than one day may result in a role reassignment.

Students must be willing to jump into the fun hard work of theatrical storytelling. It requires focus, memorization, and a willingness to try new things.

Note about casting: Each student will be assigned a role or roles to act in the production. Every part in theatre is important, on and off the stage. It really does take the whole community to put on a show. We expect our campers to agree to stay with us, even if they don't get the part they were hoping for. As an adult in their life, you can please help them navigate this through messaging something like, "we don't always get the role we want, but I'm excited to see how you handle this challenge with grace. I know you will be a positive and supportive cast member, and as always, you will shine in any role." We feel this is a really important message for kids to receive from adults they trust, both in theatre and for life :).

We are excited to get into our special KMT blackbox theatre for our first production and look forward to your kids joining us for a imagination-filled, creative Peter Pan storytelling theatrical adventure!
