Suitcase of Possibility Camp

🌟 Welcome to the Suitcase of Possibility - Devising Camp! 🧳✨

Embark on a week-long theatrical adventure at our Devising Camp! Perfect for ages 6-12, this immersive experience will run from Monday, June 24, to Friday, June 28, 2024 from 9 AM - 12 PM.

Dive into the world of theatrical creativity as we make theatre from scratch! Each day, our campers will unpack a new set of items from the Suitcase of Possibility, sparking imaginative stories, characters, and scenes.

🧳 What's inside the Suitcase? That's the mystery and excitement! From everyday objects to whimsical treasures, the possibilities are endless. Our students learn the skills to practice using these items to craft unique and original theatre pieces.

We may do an interactive sharing at the end of the final day, to have our campers' adults experience a sample of the process of devising. We'll decide this during the week, depending on what best supports our campers' learning and process. Sometimes the pressure of a sharing takes away from the learning and sometimes it enhances it; depends on the group :). We always want to do what is best for our students!

Note - No experience needed. Students who took the Suitcase of Possibility class in January are welcome! They can help new friends get up to speed, and then everyone will be going deeper into learning in this longer process. All new items in the Suitcase too.

Good to know:

• There will be a snack time. NO NUTS please. We can not provide food; please send a snack.
• We encourage water bottles with lids. There is a water fountain available.
• We suggest students wear layers (temperatures vary; we have air conditioning but it's an old building and cranky.).
• Please have your child wear shoes they can move in - "no's" - mud covered footwear, boots, cleats, slippers, bare feet. 
• Adults do not stay. We have a waiting area available with puzzles and books. However, on a nice day, we encourage families to head out and enjoy Astoria, do shopping etc. while we make theatre with your kids!
• Heads up that parking can take awhile depending on what is happening downtown.
• Kids 9 and up can check themselves in and out with advance permission. A link to the form is in the confirmation email after registration.
