NW Noggin - Storytelling Brains!
We welcome very special guests from NW Noggin to take us on a playful, educational adventure into the fascinating world of brain cells!
In this interactive workshop, students will meet the extraordinary brain cell characters that work together to make us who we are.
Similar to characters in an epic play, these brain cells come in various shapes and sizes, each with its own unique personality and skill set. We will explore what they look like and what they do – from listening and seeing to making decisions, feeling, remembering, and even telling stories.
Students will then create their own brain cell characters to bring to life through creative drama, and take these characters with them at the end of the workshop.
We'll also delve into the neighborhoods of our brains and nervous systems, where these characters reside. Just like real neighborhoods, each brain area has its own distinct features.
Kids will work in neighborhood groups to create short scenes, addressing specific challenges and solutions through their brain cell characters. The workshop concludes with groups sharing their imaginative brain stories with each other.
For those curious about the real deal, there will be brain specimens available to examine. Our visiting experts will explain how brain cells grow, develop, and change throughout our lives. Don't miss out on this engaging and educational experience of theatre + neuroscience!
